Extracurricular Activities @ GVS
Green Valley School offers a Before School (7:30 – 8:30 AM) & After School (3:00 – 5:45 PM) Club program for each age group on weekdays, as well as additional enrichment class options. GVS takes pride in offering the following Extracurricular Activities:
SKIING / SNOWBOARDING
We ski and snowboard every year at Ragged Mountain in Danbury for 5 Fridays. Parents are encouraged to come to ski as well! We have lessons in the morning and then ski for the rest of the day. Skiing / snowboarding is a great opportunity for the children to exercise their independence, responsibility, and sense of accomplishment. It is amazing to watch how quickly the students become great skiers.
ROBOTICS LAB
Robotics takes many forms at GVS. Our youngest students meet weekly to experiment with building and programming. In 2002, we competed for the first time in the First Lego League State competition and placed 15th in New Hampshire. Our most senior students have competed in the RoboCup Jr. competitions in Montreal, Seattle (where the Green Valley Team took two 1st place awards), Pittsburgh, Italy and Australia.
STUDENT SUPPORT & PEER-LED CLUBS
“Free Play” is important for all humans. With free time before and after the normal school hours, each student has the ability to build on what they’ve learned in class with the support from staff and peers. GVS students build connections that last a life-time while digging deeper into their dreams, passions, and goals.
EVENTS
We believe a school community is important for cultivating safe and supportive school communities where families can connect with their child’s learning, and where children are encouraged to fully pursue their interests. Click Here to see our Upcoming Events >
